About this piece

The basin is the lowest, most open piece in the studio: 11.5 cm tall by 24 cm wide, a wide mouth and a shallow profile. The word comes from Vulgar Latin baccea, an old name for wide, shallow containers, which reached Portuguese already carrying that sense of an open vessel.

Pattern 6: turquoise, orange and brown.

About this pattern

In this bowl, the pattern celebrates the meeting of earth and water. A sinuous band of earthy brown divides the piece, separating a sea of vibrant turquoise from a base densely dotted in warm tones. At the top, concentric circles in orange, red, and yellow float like bubbles. Below this waterline, the pattern thickens into a profusion of raised dots that evoke colorful pebbles on a riverbed. Each dot, precisely applied by the ceramist and painter, creates a tactile texture that invites the touch, culminating in the detailed rim. A creation that serves elegantly as a centerpiece, capturing the eye with its chromatic dynamism. One of a kind, with Dani's mark on the base.
