About this piece

The basin is the lowest, most open piece in the studio: 11.5 cm tall by 24 cm wide, a wide mouth and a shallow profile. The word comes from Vulgar Latin baccea, an old name for wide, shallow containers, which reached Portuguese already carrying that sense of an open vessel.

Pattern 3: blue scales.

About this pattern

In this creation by ceramist and painter Dani, the scale pattern comes alive in a symphony of blues. Against a cyan background, overlapping cobalt blue arches define the movement that ripples across the bowl's entire surface. The interior of each scale is filled with raised dots in sky blue and turquoise, creating a rich, tactile texture reminiscent of the vibrant surface of water or the skin of a marine creature. The hand-painted design flows with the calm of a gentle current. This piece is ideal as a fruit bowl, its wide interior cradling the colors and shapes of nature. One of a kind, with Dani's mark on the base.
