About this piece

The basin is the lowest, most open piece in the studio: 11.5 cm tall by 24 cm wide, a wide mouth and a shallow profile. The word comes from Vulgar Latin baccea, an old name for wide, shallow containers, which reached Portuguese already carrying that sense of an open vessel.

About this pattern

In this version of the basin, the painting by ceramist and painter Dani evokes the movement of ripples on night water. Against a deep, matte black background, pointillism mandalas spread across the base of the piece, overlapping like intersecting waves. Concentric circles in white and slate blue create a hypnotic illusion of depth, with a subtle relief that invites touch. The rim of the vessel is traced by a band of eye-like motifs, while sparse blue dots float in the black field. Its precise yet organic geometry makes it a magnetic centerpiece that captures both light and gaze. One of a kind, with Dani's mark on the base.
