About this piece

The moringa is the round-bodied water jug with a narrow neck and a ball-shaped lid that Brazilian ceramicists inherited for cooling water by evaporation — no spout, no handle, just the generous curve of fired clay. The name reached Brazilian Portuguese through an African route: dictionaries trace it to Kimbundu, a Bantu language brought to Brazil by the enslaved diaspora, long before the jug became a decorative piece. In this version, ceramicist and painter Dani hand-paints each one in ceramic, 20 cm tall and 12 cm wide.

About this pattern

On the bone-white surface, a playful pattern of black polka dots provides a canvas for vibrant, multicolor mandalas. Painted dot by dot, they create a tactile relief that invites the touch. Concentric circles in warm hues of red and orange and cool tones like turquoise and blue expand from the center, a graphic interpretation of ripples forming on water. The lively rhythm of the black dots fills the spaces and covers the vessel's neck. As a pop of color on a shelf or to serve fresh water with charm, this is a creation with a striking presence. One of a kind, with Dani's mark on the base.
