About this piece

The colonial vase takes up the round-bellied, wide-mouthed silhouette of the clay jars that marked utilitarian pottery in colonial-era Brazil — hence the name, which describes the shape rather than a fixed period. The piece is presented in three sizes: Small, up to 15 cm; Medium, 15–25 cm; and Large, above 25 cm.

About this pattern

In this iteration of the Colonial vase, the earthy palette acquires a vibrant texture. Across the exposed terracotta surface, undulating bands of raised dots are layered in cream, grey, and a milk-chocolate brown. The dot-by-dot painting technique creates a tactile surface that invites the touch. Inspired by the freehand gesture of popular painting, the arrangement of colors in strata evokes geological layers, each line of dots following its own rhythm, guided only by the pulse of the ceramist and painter. The vessel's wide mouth and generous body are ideal for holding plants with dense foliage, their green contrasting elegantly against the warm ceramic tones. One of a kind, with Dani's mark on the base.
