About this piece

The colonial vase takes up the round-bellied, wide-mouthed silhouette of the clay jars that marked utilitarian pottery in colonial-era Brazil — hence the name, which describes the shape rather than a fixed period. The piece is presented in three sizes: Small, up to 15 cm; Medium, 15–25 cm; and Large, above 25 cm.

Pattern 4: black with colourful dots.

About this pattern

In this iteration of the Colonial Vase, a velvety black background serves as a canvas for an explosion of colour. Dots and circles in magenta, lime green, orange, and red, many with white outlines, cluster in vibrant bands at the mouth and base of the piece. On the vase's body, small white dots float between larger circles, creating a joyful, pulsating rhythm. The freehand pattern evokes the energy of popular painting, where each dot is guided only by the gesture of the ceramist and painter. The contrast between the matte surface and the slight relief of the colourful dots invites the touch. Ideal as a sculptural spot of colour in an entryway or living room. One of a kind, with Dani's mark on the base.
