About this piece

The colonial vase takes up the round-bellied, wide-mouthed silhouette of the clay jars that marked utilitarian pottery in colonial-era Brazil — hence the name, which describes the shape rather than a fixed period. The piece is presented in three sizes: Small, up to 15 cm; Medium, 15–25 cm; and Large, above 25 cm.

Pattern 6: black, orange and turquoise bands.

About this pattern

In this variation of the Colonial vase, ceramist and painter Dani organizes the surface into vibrant, undulating bands. The rim is delineated by a black layer dotted with white, followed by an exuberant orange band filled with concentric circles in shades of turquoise, red, and purple. A sinuous black stripe, marked by large white dots, separates the orange section from another in turquoise, which repeats the colorful circle motif. The base is finished with vertical white brushstrokes over a black background. The inspiration comes from the free gesture of popular painting, guided only by the pulse of the wrist. It is a generous creation that enhances a plant with dense foliage or stands out as a point of color in a room. One of a kind, with Dani's mark on the base.
