About this piece
The mushroom is a decorative object, 13 cm tall by 13 cm wide, with a rounded cap over a short stem — the classic shape of the fungus that gives the piece its name. "Cogumelo" is an old word in Portuguese, which dictionary tradition links to "cuca" or "cuculla" (hood), a direct reference to the hood-like shape of a mushroom's cap.

About this pattern
In this variation, the classic mushroom form is given a hypnotic pattern. Upon the cap's vibrant red background, a composition of black-and-white concentric circles spreads out, punctuated by small dots that create an intense visual rhythm. The stem, in a raw, off-white tone, contrasts with vertical columns of dots: fine red lines alternate with black spheres that seem to pulse in size. The hand-painted surface has a delicate, tactile relief.
